Wable x Steakbabes

When Wable approached us about creating a neuro-friendly edition of Steak & Date, we immediately said yes. The result? One of our most meaningful and successful events to date.

Making Space for Everyone

This special edition of Steak & Date was created in honour of April's Autism Acceptance month. Partnering with Wable – a dating app designed specifically for neurodivergent people by founder Holly – we crafted an event that truly understood our ND community's needs.

The evening featured an 8-course steak menu with vegetarian alternatives available on request, catering to different dietary needs. The atmosphere was thoughtfully designed as a neuro-friendly format for our ND babes and allies, creating a space where everyone felt comfortable being themselves. We even welcomed support workers at no charge – because inclusivity means thinking of everything.

Connection Without Pressure

The impact of creating this inclusive space was profound. Some attendees traveled 1.5 hours into Melbourne just to be there – a testament to how needed these events are. One of the standout moments came when a guest told us, "this has been one of the best nights of my life." It was a powerful reminder of how important it is to create spaces where our neurodivergent community feels genuinely seen, heard, and valued. Several connections were made throughout the evening, proving that when people feel comfortable being themselves, magic happens.

Community at Its Core

This collaboration at Pincho Disco in Collingwood proved that inclusivity and fun go perfectly together. With an LGBTQ+ friendly environment and speed dating prompts that kept conversations flowing naturally, the night was fun, chill, and actually inclusive. Male tickets sold out completely, and we ended up offering 15% off the remaining female and non-binary tickets to ensure a great mix of attendees.

We're already buzzing for the next round of Speed Dating/Friending and hoping to bring this experience to other states across Australia soon.

Special thanks to @wable for their partnership and expertise in creating inclusive spaces.
