🥩 Steak - 4.3/5
If you’re looking for a steak night that’s out of the ordinary (in the best way), head into the city to Reed House, a modern aussie restaurant with a british touch & focus on great local ingredients & big, punchy flavours. Every Wednesday for $30 is a 180g O’Connors Porterhouse with mash, prepared medium rare & it was cooked really nicely. We would of loved the sauces on the side to be able to taste the steak without any sauces, but it was great.
🔪Sauce & Sides – 3.7/5
We were so excited to try a bunch of new things, we started with Ramen scotch eggs, these were unbelievable, Pork & Pistachio Brawn and then the Mackerel. The flavours were like nothing we’d ever had before. We did learn, we’re not the biggest fans of mackerel. With the steak, you get a buttery, creamy mash which was great & a salad which was a little too zesty for us. The steak came with a garlic & anchovy sauce plus a jus, these together were fantastic. However, we would have preferred the sauce on the side.
🍷 Vino – 4.6/5
They have a gorgeous vino list. We were spoilt to one of their special cocktails to begin our night. The cocktails change based on season & availability. Back to the vino, H had a glass of the Gant & Co, Touriga Nacional for $17 a glass, lovely & a little bit spicy, Mads went for the Mutual Promises Nebbiolo for $17, absolutely beautiful.
🔥Vibe – 4.5/5
The heritage house itself was built in 1859 & then opened in 2024 as this beautiful restaurant. There is so much character in the building. We loved the staff, they were so accommodating, especially to dietary requirements. They were so friendly and conscious of ensuring all of the patrons had a great experience.
💰 Value – 4/5
We do think $30 for a steak night is solid value, we would have loved the steak to be a little bigger however, this is the perfect steak night to hit the spot without feeling like you’ve over indulged. H also treated herself to a amaro & Milo bite for $4
