🥩 Steak
We were lucky enough to be invited to the beautiful Freyja in the city to enjoy one of their steaks. We headed into the amazing heritage building. On the menu for steak you can chose between a 300g Scotch Fillet or a 700g Rib-Eye with the bone in. We went for a Scotch each, these were full of flavour, cooked beautifully & oh so tender! The flavour was gorgeous, we were so full by the time we finished but we couldn’t leave a bite!

🔪 Sauce & Sides
We went with a staple to start, the beef tartare, the only way we can explain this was that there were so many flavours it was like eating three meals in one bite, it was phenomenal. We also tried the squash with stracciatella, this was one that surprised us on how lovely it was. With the steak, it is served with a combination of sauces, a red wine reduction & seaweed mustard, H loved the mustard, Mads preferred the red wine reduction. and of course, we had to try the potatoes, which were triple cooked & unbelievable.

🔥 Vibe
@freyjamelbourne is a restaurant that focus on Aussie & locally sourced ingredients as well as preserving the ingredients for as long as possible by way of pickling or salting ingredients. The venue itself has so much history & is stunning! The staff were amazing & the vibe felt boujee yet comfortable. Freyja is the perfect spot for a date night or a catch up with a friend alongside delicious food.

🍷 Vino
The vino list was extensive & included some really beautiful drops. H started with the chilled red for $21 a glass, a little on the exxy side however, worth every cent, this was a fantastic drop. Mads had the rose, this was $19 a glass & was a massive hit. H also tried the Sangiovese, but the chilled red was the stand out!

💰Value
The Scotch fillet was $70 each, which may seem more on the expensive side however, it was absolutely fantastic & we loved this cut & how the steak was cooked. We thoroughly enjoyed every single thing we had at Freyja & we especially love that everything is locally sourced & there is a real love for Aussie produce.
