🥩Steak –4.4/5
We were invited to visit Hotel Esplanade or more commonly known as The Espy in St Kilda for their Tuesday $26 Steak Night! Now for those of you who have experienced the Espy, you may think this is just a bar or nightclub however, the steak night impressed us! On offer is a 250g Coal-Fired Porterhouse which was honestly lovely. There is a good amount of fat on this baby, cooked perfectly to our liking & had gorgeous flavour.

🔪Sauce & Sides – 3.5/5
The steak is served with chippies, salad, peppercorn sauce & herb butter. The salad was great with a lot of flavour with the slices of pear, it felt super fresh. Sadly for Mads, her chippies were cold, but had such potential if they were warm! The Peppercorn sauce is one to enjoy, it wasn’t super punchy, but had great flavour to compliment the steak. As always, we do love a sauce option which we didn’t get here.

🔥Vibe – 4/5
We’re suckers for a venue by the water & The Espy gave us this ten fold. With so many options for dining with stunning views! You could honestly come here with anyone & feel comfortable. The staff were great, we were chatting to them all night! It felt like the crowd was varied, with friends catching up for drinks to first dates & everything in between.

🍷Vino – 4.6/5
Mads was on the Shiraz, as usual, which was $14 for a glass & easy to drink, full of flavour! H was on the white wine this night & tried the Pinot Gris & loved! Again at $14 a glass. We both thoroughly enjoyed the drops.

💰Value – 4.3/5
You couldn’t cook a solid steak at home with sauce & sides for $26 & we would be impressed if you could. The only thing we would alter is having sauce choices - as you know, we love a sauce choice. The winners for the steak were the flavour & how beautifully this was cooked.
