The launch of Steak & Date

Well, we did it. We took our two favourite things – steak and good company – and turned it into Melbourne's most unique dating experience. After last night's inaugural Steak & Date event, we're still buzzing from the energy, the connections, and yes, the perfectly cooked steaks.

The Saucy Idea That Started It All

Let's be real – modern dating can be a bit meh. Awkward apps, endless swiping, and conversations that fizzle faster than a cheap cut on high heat. We knew there had to be a better way to bring people together.

Enter Steak & Date: our cheeky solution to Melbourne's dating scene. Why not combine the joy of a perfectly cooked steak with the thrill of meeting someone new? After all, good food has a way of bringing out the best in people (and revealing their true medium-rare or well-done personalities).

What Actually Went Down

Last Thursday, 30 brave souls walked into Pincho Disco in Collingwood, including Steakbabes' own H, ready to put themselves out there – or at least out there enough to share a steak dinner with strangers. The evening unfolded with an 8-course steak tasting menu that had everyone talking, including a show-stopping A5 Japanese Wagyu Sando that nearly stole the spotlight from potential matches. Between courses, guests enjoyed 5-minute speed dates that were just long enough to spark interest without the pressure. The atmosphere was more dinner party than corporate speed dating event, with genuine laughter and real conversations flowing naturally throughout the night.

The result? A room full of connections forming – both romantic and platonic – and more than a few potential love stories brewing.

Why We Created Steak & Date

This wasn't just about starting another event series. We wanted to create meaningful connections, both romantic and platonic, while showcasing local venues and supporting Melbourne's hospitality scene. Our goal was to build community by bringing together people who appreciate good food and good company, and most importantly, to make dating fun again – because it should be enjoyable, not a chore.

What's Next for Steak & Date?

After this fun launch, we're already planning the next one. You can expect regular events throughout the year, different themed nights including neuro-friendly editions and LGBTQ+ nights, plus potential interstate expansion to Sydney and Brisbane in the future.
